7 Simple Bookmark Art Ideas for Watercolor Enthusiasts

Looking for something new to make? Well, my artistic friends, I’ve made a little project for myself and I thought why not share it with you? Here are 7 simple bookmark art ideas just for you!

I am very much fond of books and reading, and sometimes, I find myself grabbing just about anything just to mark where I am in the book I’m currently reading when I need to put it down. Candy wrappers, receipts, pens, my earphones, my phone even, and ticket stubs are just some of the things that I made into an impromptu bookmark. So, I thought it was high time to make my own bookmarks. And since I’ve been fond of making watercolor paintings, I thought it would be a great idea to make some into bookmarks!

But before I let you see them, here are some materials that you need to get started.

7 Simple Bookmark Art Ideas

Never let your fear decide your fate.

Painting leaves with watercolor is such an enjoyable process, well at least for me. You learn how to control the amount of water and paint on your brush and you learn how to let your brush go to create the shape of a leaf. A simple round brush (size 7) will do the trick!

I will always choose me.

I’m not very great at making gradients but this is a fun and simple effect you can practice and make on your bookmark. Let the paint dry and then write a quote that you like. As for me, I am all for self-love, hence this quote.

Remember where you started.

This bookmark art idea is very easy to do. Just paint two strokes of color, let the paint dry, and doodle these lines and dots. It’s minimalistic but very creative.

As for the quote, you will always need to cling to the reason behind why you even started doing something so that you will learn to hang on when the going gets hard. It’s something I learned from one of my teachers in school and it resonated so much with me that I always carry the thought as I grew older.

You are enough.

Here’s another leaf painting in a different style. I used two shades of green for contrast, and I think it turned out alright, although this one is not my favorite.

I like speaking and reading positive words of affirmation and yes, YOU are enough.

You are amazing.

Flowers are also fun to paint, especially this one. This bookmark art idea is again another simple one. I am pretty sure you’ll make an even better version of this because you are amazing!

You can.

This is one of my favorite pieces and it turned out so well. I adore painting galaxy skies and so I can’t skip it for this project.

You can. These are two simple words yet sometimes, it can be all the difference when read or spoken at the right time.

Smile.

Last but not least is this painting of lavenders. It’s dainty, it’s easy to paint, and it’s very pretty to look at. I just then wrote the word “smile” at the bottom because putting in a long quote would disrupt the painting. It’s a sweet reminder to always keep a smile, even when things get tough. 🙂

My favorites among the bunch I painted!

Final Thoughts

These are all so easy to make and once the paints are dry and all the words are written, you can immediately use them on your books! It’s a quick, easy, and fun project to make, and I hope these bookmark art ideas inspired you today.
